Young People at Risk, known as YPAR, is an interagency initiative based in Dublin’s North East Inner City.
YPAR brings together statutory, voluntary and community services to better support young people at risk and their families. It works through a collaborative and coordinated approach, helping services respond more effectively to the needs of children, young people and families in the area.
YPAR is not only one single programme. It is a network and coordination structure that helps services work together around the needs of young people.
The aim is to improve support for young people by identifying gaps, strengthening collaboration between services, and making sure young people’s voices are included in planning and decision-making.
YPAR works with services that support children, young people and families in the North East Inner City.
This may include support around youth work, mentoring, education, family support, community engagement, mental wellbeing and access to services.
YPAR is especially relevant where a young person or family may need additional support, or where several services may need to work together.
YPAR has working groups focused on different needs in the community.
These include areas such as early years, children and young people’s mental wellbeing, children in emergency accommodation, young people who are harder to reach, and support for Ukrainian refugees and IPAS families.
YPAR helps connect community organisations, services and practitioners so that young people and families are not left to navigate everything alone.
Its work is focused on partnership, coordination and practical action across the North East Inner City.
