The Society of St Vincent de Paul, often called SVP, provides practical support to individuals and families experiencing poverty, financial pressure or difficult circumstances.
SVP offers help in a confidential, respectful and non-judgemental way. People can contact SVP if they are struggling with household costs, food, heat, clothing, school expenses, bills, or other everyday pressures.
SVP may be able to offer practical or financial assistance with everyday essentials.
This can include support around food, light, heat, clothing, school costs, household bills or other urgent needs. The exact support available may depend on your situation and local SVP resources.
SVP does not only offer financial help.
Local SVP volunteers can provide friendship and support, information about other services, and advocacy when dealing with organisations you may owe money to or need support from.
SVP support is provided locally through volunteer groups known as Conferences.
When someone contacts SVP, trained volunteers may arrange a visit or conversation to listen, understand the situation and explore how they may be able to help.
You can request help from SVP online through their website.
SVP says requests are treated with dignity, respect and confidentiality.
Please note that SVP is not an emergency service, and support may take time to arrange.
