Ballybough Community, Youth & Sports Centre

Ballybough Community, Youth & Sports Centre is a multi-functional community space serving the Ballybough area in Dublin 3.

The centre provides a welcoming place for people of different ages to take part in community activities, fitness, learning, youth supports and local programmes. It supports the social, educational, cultural and recreational life of the local community.

Community & Recreation

The centre offers a range of activities and facilities for local residents, including community events, fitness activities, classes and access to shared community spaces.

The centre includes a gym, main hall, kitchen, studio spaces, sports facilities and meeting spaces. These facilities are used for classes, community programmes, youth activities, events and local group activities.

Fitness & Wellbeing

Ballybough Community Centre runs fitness classes and provides access to gym facilities.

Fitness activities may include classes such as spin, body tone, HIIT, boxfit and other exercise classes. The centre aims to cater for different fitness levels and provide a friendly, accessible environment for people who want to get active.

Learning & Community Education

The centre also supports learning and community education.

Dublin City Intercultural Language Centre offers free English classes at the Ballybough centre, helping people with aspects of Irish life, work, health and education. These classes are listed as taking place Monday to Thursday, 10:00am–12:00pm, but it is best to check directly with the centre for current times.

Youth Supports

Crosscare Ballybough Youth Project is based in the centre and works with young people aged 10–25 who live or attend school in the local area.

The youth project provides a range of activities and supports, including health and wellbeing programmes, sports, arts, cooking, community work, streetwork, events, family support, counselling referrals and food support.

Childcare & Early Years

The centre is also connected with early years provision.

Dublin City Council lists the Larkin Early Education Service as a purpose-built service for children aged 2 years 6 months to 5 years, based at Ballybough Community, Youth and Sports Centre. Families should contact the service directly for availability and waiting list information.

Young People At Risk Programme

YPAR, the Young People At Risk programme, is also based at the centre. It is an interagency initiative supporting young people in the North East Inner City who may be experiencing personal, family, educational or social challenges.
